Liya Ethiopian Cotton Hand Towel

Product Origin

Liya Ethiopian cotton hand towels are eye-catching yet exceptionally soft. These hand towels are ethically crafted and made to be durable. The Liya hand towel features natural, un-dyed cotton accented with ribbed lines of delicate blush color. An easy way to add a touch of color to your bathroom or kitchen.

Each towel is hand-woven in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia using time-honored weaving traditions and AZO-free dyes. Hand-spun Ethiopian cotton adds a uniquely rich texture that will continue to soften and become more absorbent with each wash.

But this towel goes beyond its beauty. According to tradition in Ethiopia, weavers are a marginalized group. Women spin and prepare the cotton but weaving is considered a man’s craft. We partner with an artisan weaver group where 75% of the group is proudly represented by women.

Creative Women is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation and is working with 300 artisans from countries including Burundi, Ethiopia, and India. Creative women work to preserve longstanding and rich traditional art forms and help to ensure their craft supports the health, education, and economic stability of their families.
